According to ABC, Las Vegas police treated the incident as a potential act of terror and continued with investigations.
Musk said he has never seen such an incident involving the Tesla Inc. vehicle since launching it in 2023.
He noted that some individuals rented the Cybertruck, and the heinous act was unrelated to the company brand.
"We have confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion,” said Musk on X platform.

According to Tesla, a Cybertruck is durable and rugged enough to go anywhere. It is built for any planet.
The truck can tackle anything with its electronically adaptive air suspension, which offers 12” of travel and 16” of clearance.
It is also made of an ultra-hard stainless-steel exoskeleton that helps to reduce dents, damage and long-term corrosion.

In April 2024, the company recalled 3,878 Cybertruck vehicles because of a defect that can cause unintentional vehicle acceleration, increasing crash risk.
Tesla notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the condition in which the accelerator pedal may become trapped on the Cybertruck
The firm said it was unaware of any collisions or injuries related to the condition and that it would replace or rework the accelerator to address the issue.
